In 1992, Larry Kincade turned to his innate cooking talents and started to prepare his original recipes for Jellies and Preserves on a full time basis. His production facilities comprised of his kitchen stove and a refrigerator in his garage, which was also the warehouse. Over the years, the number and type of products grew as did the sales and his reputation. Sales were initially focused on three or four local craft shows. With the help of Larry’s wife, Nancy Wheeler, and her merchandising skills, craft show participation grew to over a dozen, including the large Christmas craft shows in Nepean, Ottawa, Toronto and Guelph. In 2001, Peter Fedirchuk, invested in the Company because he knew that with products that good and unique, there would be a wider market via retail speciality food stores across Ontario. Peter also brought along his extensive experience in marketing, sales and finance. The first step was to create a commercial kitchen and production facilities in Almonte, Ontario capable of meeting the expected demand. By 2005, sales were 600% greater than in 2001 and products were available at dozens of stores through eastern Ontario. During the years from 2001 - 2005, Kincades products earned four National Awards from the Association of Specialty Food Producers and two Regional Awards. In 2006, Kincades partnered with a distributor who has five sales people covering every town and city from Peterbough to London and into Niagara Peninsula. By mid 2007, Kincades products were available in well over a hundred retail outlets from Pointe Clare, Quebec, in the East to Windsor in the West, Barrie to the North and Niagara Falls to the South. Kincades Jams, Jellies, Dessert Sauces and Preserves are still crafted the old-world way, in small batches using only the freshest, premium quality fruit and ingredients just as they were when Larry Kincade bottled his first preserves over 15 years ago. Each of the twenty-two products that comprise the product line are as rich in tradition as in taste |
